The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has dropped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr. Obi announced his resignation in a letter dated Friday, May 20, 2022 and addressed to the national chairman of the party.
In the letter, Mr. Obi gave the reasons for his withdrawal from the presidential race.
“I am writing to inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has been conveyed to the President of Agulu Ward 2. Anaocha LGA
“Anambra, effective Friday, May 20, 2022. Therefore, I inform you by this letter of my withdrawal for the presidential primaries of the PDP.
“It has been a great honor to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party. Unfortunately, recent developments within our party make it nearly impossible to continue to participate and make such constructive contributions.
“Our national challenges are deeply rooted and demand that we each make deep sacrifices to save our country. My commitment to saving Nigeria remains firm, even if the road differs.
“I want to personally thank you for your kindness and leadership. I wish you good luck and good luck in the service of the country.“
