Buhari mourns former editor of Democratic newspaper, Babatunde

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retired), on Thursday expressed his sincere condolences on the death of renowned journalist and writer Abdulhamid Babatunde, who served as editor of several newspaper titles, including the late Democrat based in Kaduna.

Buhari’s message of condolence is contained in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant for Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled “President Buhari mourns Abdulhamid Babatunde, Distinguished Writer, Journalist.”

The President said: “Abdulhamid Babatunde was a distinguished writer and journalist. He contributed greatly to our elections in 2015 and 2019.

“He worked to strengthen the journalism profession as a prominent writer and trade unionist. Always full of energy and ideas, passionate about the development of Nigeria, he will be missed by so many.

The president further described Babatunde’s disappearance as a “huge void in the media” praying to Allah to rest his soul and grant his family and friends the courage to bear the loss.
