President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja urged Nigerians to resist the agents of destabilization.
He said the agents were determined to bring about a breakdown of law and order in the country, assuring that no individual or group would be allowed to destabilize Nigeria.
The President’s Spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari made the statement at the breaking of the Ramadan fast in the presence of governors, ministers and heads of government agencies.
“We have the land, we have the resources and we have the people.
“I don’t know why people will successfully subvert themselves to destabilize their own country,” Adesina said, quoting the president.
The president thanked governors and ministers for honoring his invitation to break the Ramadan fast and said he was confident that despite the current security challenges, the country would succeed.
In the 2023 general election, the President claimed that as a beneficiary of free, fair and credible elections, the introduction of technology would prevent anyone from claiming millions of votes in Nigeria again.
In his address, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi commended the President for showing resilience and determination at a crucial time in Nigeria’s history.
“We have a leader who is not distracted by momentary challenges, but has continued to be committed to the renewal of our nation.
“We also have governors, ministers and heads of government agencies who are equally dedicated to building a better Nigeria, under the watchful eye of the president,” he said.
Fayemi noted that the month of Ramadan this year coincided with the period of Christian Lent which has just ended.
“It holds enormous spiritual value on the benefits of renewal, sacrifice, almsgiving, forgiveness and healing for the individual as well as the nation,” he said. (NOPE)
